Might as well mention that we have some rare retrogrades looming ahead. Best way to navigate is with some good strong consultation input. Schedule now before the rates go up (January 11). It’s a good time to order the Galactic Trilogy CD, too. Can you think of a better way to enjoy holiday down time than by exploring new dimensions in modern astrology?

Starting December 21 Venus turns retrograde in Capricorn. She is the least likely planet to go retrograde, backtracking only 7% of the time. Midway through the retrograde, she directly aligns with the Sun and Earth on January 11th, marking a day of making hay on material matters despite the retrograde. Venus resumes direct (prograde) motion on January 31.

Less than a week later, Mercury retrogrades on February 6th, where it stays until February 28th. Since we deal with Mercury retrograde three times within a typical calendar year, this should be no mystery. We all know what to do, right? Emulate Santa. Make that list and check it twice... three times is better actually. Conduct communication checks in general. Think before speaking, especially about creative and emotional matters to honor the Pisces pivot point; and those lofty world-saving, consciousness-altering Aquarian abstractions that Mercury double dips into during his back peddling stint.

Mars shifts into reverse on March 1st. He continuously backs his shiny red truck up through May 20th. And, by the way, given his retrogradation, he travels Libra from now (actually from three days ago) until the third week of May! It’s not forever, but it might seem like it if you fight the martial plan of extreme negotiation, deal wheeling and ultra cooperation from his position in Libra. “My way or highway” is always indelibly written on the Mars agenda slate, but here the learning curve is that of making “my way” deals for all involved. Impossible? Not at all, but the agenda and themes must be that of establishing a net gain for all participants in any transaction.

Mars is the second least likely planet to be retrograde, following Venus at a scant 9% retrograde rate. The direct alignment of Mars, Earth and Sun occurs at the midpoint of the retro era on April 8th. Mark that date as one in which the gears of action are perfectly greased and engage all clutch situations with delicate traction such that significant progress appears in even the most difficult matters.

What’s rather interesting and particularly difficult for those doing electional astrology, is that for the first four months and three weeks of 2014, except for a measly week, one of the personal planets is retrograde. Neatly, the start and stop times of personal planets retrograding do not overlap.

So, given holiday busy-ness, it seems best to bullet point suggestions for the rare retrogrades to create something like a her gift package for Venus and a him gift package for Mars.

Venus:

Review your perception of your inner worth.

Review your view of your talent. Seek professional feedback (no fair asking mom, or cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents) and merge valid replies into honing your gifts.

Create a budget that addresses essential needs for basic sustenance and accomplishing your greater plans in life.

Create a budget that addresses those things you want and desire as accouterments to your basic plans for success.

Contrast your income profile with your present debt load and loans under consideration.

Develop resource consciousness that takes the pressure off money. For instance, if you need to travel to Timbuktu and need an airline ticket, if someone gave your airline miles, you could secure a ticket without an actual transfer of money (except for the airline processing fee on freebies).

When expressing needs or desires, be crystal clear which is being presented and maintain within your psyche a full sense of deserve-ability.

Offer no justifications for what you need or want on the mental, emotional or spiritual fronts. Things being as they are in the mundane world, you’ll likely need to justify budget requirements and procurements.

Work to feel worthy, wonderful and wildly enthusiastic about the next steps of fulfillment.

Mars:

Develop a resource consciousness to relieve the pressure on time, by remembering sustained action and accomplishment requires an expenditure of well-motivated energy.

Sense the right time. Nothing like jumping off the start platform into the pool ahead of the starter’s pistol to annoy other participants and fans.

Cultivate your edge, but polish it to a luster before using it as your leading trait.

Conserve your energy. Engage in only productive activities and those that further your greater objectives.

Sense when to throttle back and slow down when in bumpy life atmospheres.

Learn how to read your inner instruments that indicate energy available, intention index and perseverance left in the pantry.

When Mars retrogrades, he nearly snips at the heels of Mercury going prograde. Think, plan, discuss, revise, think, plan, discuss, and do it again, ad nauseam.

Apply a keen sense of diplomacy, decorum and dignity to all interpersonal activities. Mars, ruler of Aries, should remember that Ares (Aries) and Eris (now in Aries), after they raised Cain everywhere they went, soon found they were able to get no invitations. Take heed.

Temper strengthens tools, but weakens communication.

Allow ample time in local transit activities.

Avoid energy drinks and synthetic stimulants. Eat well and rest.

Exercise and break a sweat regularly.

That should get your thinking caps started. For those of you scant on resolutions for the New Year, if you do the Gregorian Calendar celebration thing, feel free to pick and chose from the above.

Okay folks, more soon. Stand by.
